"Tension and Ease" (from 2010)

In this case also, the transition is derived from the previous theme: At the focus is the tense and concentrated moment which is inherent in every movement and which is constantly transforming. In the imagery of paintings one only singles out the one moment, although there is a whole spectrum of thoughts and statements behind it. In the broadest sense, this is the attention for the moment. For the imagery of this theme I have discovered, among other things, the air bubbles which depict a wonderful synthesis of tension and ease and which can be diaphanous or also reflective.
Painting portraits is a great challenge because the image of a face should also always express the individual character of a person.
The artistic possibilities of expression and also specific artistic skills are required to an extremely high degree in order to live up to this challenge. |
